O YOU WHO REOPEN THE HEART Nidaa Shradgah

🌹 O YOU WHO REOPEN THE HEART'S WOUNDS 🌹
Nidaa Shradgah , Jordanian Poetess Translated by Abdullah Ingad
---
O you who reopen the heart's wounds in a song,
And suddenly my longing is a flood, and strong —
I am that lover, wounded in his love,
Who walks with weary pain and rises above.
The hearts have wept, our eyelids have not dried,
And love, despite the soul's torment, we keep inside,
We hide our sorrows, and deep within, a quake —
The secret kills us sometimes, and we shake.
O poet who pours our anguish into rhyme,
My letter toward the depths of grief makes its climb,
Not everyone who tastes love's cup can bear it —
Only the one whose heartbeat gnaws, and cannot spare it.
I shall keep sailing in your eyes, a stranger,
Even if the wave of parting brings its danger,
And we shall meet one day, and love will be delight,
Erasing from the eye a tear that burned too bright.
For dawn is coming, though the night be long,
And your union's light, my heart will not refuse its song.
